So I woke up today with a 'Stomach Flu' kinda thing and ended up vomiting so much that bile was coming up. The vomiting cause me to not be able to take my meds AND caused my back to hurt ridiculously bad. I put a call in the my PCP and was told to go to urgent care to be checked for dehydration and what not.
I got there and they hooked me up to an IV (I just love getting fluids, not the needle part, but the rest is fabulous) and gave me some pain meds, nausea medication and a anti convulsant to relax my muscles. They also did a rectal exam (with all my GI probs, that was a First for me) and took an x-ray of my abdomen and did a standard panel of labs.
My blood levels were mostly ok, but my white cell count was a little elevated. The x-ray showed that I had what looked like some air pockets in my intestines and that was prolly causing the nausea, vomiting, diarreha, and abdominal pain. Other than that it was normal and there really wasn't much they could do for me.
They ended up giving me a second shot of pain meds to get the pain under control and a prescription for an anti nausea medication. I was really worried that my vomiting and the increase in back pain had caused something to happen to my bulging disk and what not, but because I wasn't having neurological symptoms, then they thought that I was prolly ok.
I'm back on a pretty much liquids diet for the moment but feeling a touch better. I'm hoping that I feel even better tomorrow. I was actually able to keep a little bit of food down tonight and some fluids, so that is pretty promising. :temp:
