So i went to the dieticians today, and it was pointless! I've been losing weight for no apparent reason and all they could suggest was eating more meals but smaller than 3 main ones...that doesnt work because my dentist says not to snack between meals because of my teeth, we just kept going round and round in circles. We didnt get anywhere and i have to go back in 3 months to see if theres any change. I just found it really frustrating!

Hmm. So did they ever find the reason of you losing weight? That's really odd. I wish I had that problem, I could stand to shed a few pounds!

Nope they havent found anything, im going back next month, fun fun. i havent dared go on the scales because i know im going to be disappointed but ive spoken to a couple of people that i know (adults) as well as my friends and even tho we havent found a reason for the suddenous of the weight loss weve put it down to me having a high metabolism but still, my clothes..mainly jeans are just hanging off me and i cant afford to go shop for new ones that will actually fit :(

annd youre not the only one, the amount of ppl that have said oh i wish i had that problem! nooo you really dont! lol

there has been a programme here in the UK about limiting your calories and it showed u what 100 calories is equal too..i was shocked! ive been told a couple of things to put weight on so maybe if you do the opposite...i got told to not move after ive eaten a meal, and eat before i go to bed plus the normal stuff like eating high calorie foods etc :) i've put on half a pound in the last week (yay!) BUT im back to square one because i lost 3 pounds over Christmas somehow :s but now its starting to go on i hope it stays on! onwards and upwards!

I'm in treatment for an eating disorder and am pretty well recovered. I love eating Cliff and other nutrition bars...I used to have to drink Ensure and other supplement drinks but I don't need to anymore.

Being on prednisone all this time helped too lol. Have they considered an appetite stimulator?

No, I don't know what to do.
I am currently 206 lbs, and I feel like a whale. :(

No matter how much I exercise I STILL cannot lose anything.

Ugh. My doctor won't help because he's a jerk.
Is there any programs for EDS patients to lose weight that you know of?

Katherine
06-24-2010, 03:25 PM
No I havent heard anything about diets and EDS :( apart from eating foods which help strengthen bones etc

I've put on 2lbs in 3 months so I'm hoping thyat sticks around. I have to go back to the dietician in 6 months and then I'm hoping we can go our serperate ways.

I'm sorry your doctors a bit pants with the losing weight stuff, have you roamed the internet? do you have anything like a dietetics or nutrition department at hospital or anything that you could try?

Well considering I wouldn't even take a dying dog to the hospital near my home, I have no clue. Hahaha.

I am going to do some research on it though, and if I find anything out, I'll let y'all know.

Britt you might want to try seeing a dietitcian. Since you live near Johns Hopkins Dr. F probably can help you.

I asked my mother's rheumatologist what to do. She said the best is small changes...like she started using whole milk for coffee instead of cream...then gradually...2%...then 1%...than skim to NOTHING. Same with sugar. She said she lost 5 lbs from that (and she's a short woman like me) in a year just from THAT.

And increasing your activity even a little is better than nothing. Dr. F also will help you find activities that won't hurt you.

The thing is, I am quite addicted to Soda.. (BAD I KNOW!! :( ) and I do consume quite a bit of sugar so I have enough energy to get through the day!

I have been doing REALLY good since I cut out most sugar's and ALL the soda's I was drinking on a daily basis. Plus I've been going to the gym more, and trying to eat healthy and I noticed it makes me not only feel better, but look a lot healthier too!
