I was just wondering if people with EDS share characteriscts.
If so, what are they?

What do you mean by characteristics? Like, personality or facial looks?

Even with my mom and I, we have different joint stuff. My hands are waaaaaay bendier than hers, but her hips pop a LOT.

What kinds of characteristics do you mean?

Facial features are often said to be large eyes, small chin, thin nose and lips and lobeless ears. I do have pretty big eyes I guess?

Also having a slim build, with thin, pale, translucent skin with veins visable on the chest and abdomen. I am quite slim and my skin is quite see-thru, in the winter when I dont have a tan, you can see the veins on my chest more but you cant see them on my abdomen..

I think some symptoms can interlink with the other types of EDS

Kathrine I can see it in your lips and eyes...and the tint of your skin

I too am see through...everywhere. I have thin lips and am very tiny (5ft exactly) but my ears are lobed.

I just look delicate...I don't know how to explain but my wrists are very thin and stuff and my fingers are thin and long (marfanoid habitus)

Hmm.

Characteristics?

I have almond shaped eyes, a rather mild sized chin, high cheek bones, tiny ears, lots of veins that roll all the time..:( ... and i used to be REALLY thin so thin I looked like a skeleton..but due to medications I gained a lot of weight and currently weigh 206 lbs.

I'm quite thin, and generally quite small. I'm about 103 lbs and I find it really hard to put on any weight at all :/

Wanna switch? Haha.

I wish I could NOT put on weight, and stay fit like I used to be.

But 103 lbs is REALLY thin. :/ How tall are you?

SophieeBabessxo
06-24-2010, 01:14 PM
5ft 2, about 159cm

Katherine

At the mo I'm around 107lb and that's after putting a couple of lbs on...which I hope to keep!!

Ahh. I wish I could shed of some of this weight. Being a busty girl doesn't help either. :(

I'm 5 feet tall. My lowest was 83 lbs...I lost a lot of weight from my Dysautonomia and wound up worsening an eating disorder. I fought back and WON!

I'm now 135 because of a long course of prednisone (steroids make you gain weight) and it's a HUGE difference (pun sort of intended?) and for a while I tried to forget what I learned in recovery but it just seemed WRONG. I now have a whole new wardrobe and sold/donated all my teeny tiny clothes so I CAN'T ever need them again!

No matter your weight, love YOURSELF. ♥

Steph -
You have no idea how much this made me smile. You are completely and utterly right and I am glad you won your battle with your eating disorder! You go girl!:dancing::party::hugs:

I'm glad I did too...the battle certainly isn't over and it's something that comes up every single day...kind of like EDS :) Just gotta keep working at it.

You really are an inspiration for anyone fighting against an eating disorder :)

I'm 5' 1/2" tall and weigh approx. 105. I also have trouble putting on weight no matter what or how much I eat. I've always been the smallest of my friends but somehow, despite my size and condition, I don't look fragile. People are actually surprised when I'm grumpy because I'm having a bad pain day, like they think I'm perfectly healthy, which is both a blessing and a curse because they are more willing to listen to my story, but less likely to believe me. I guess I have a Napoleon complex.... I don't know.

Haha I don't think so...you're not about to take over Europe are you? ;)

xxBrittany

Steph, I hope she isn't going THAT far! HAHA.

TinyBrooke
12-30-2010, 05:21 PM
Nahh... Not ALL of Europe, anyway.
I meant more like I'm small but think I'm big.
A surprising amount of people are scared of me too. *shrugs* No idea, I doubt I could take out a 5 year old.

xxBrittany
01-05-2011, 12:23 AM
Haha. I doubt I could take out my 13 year old brother even if I wanted too..

Mind you he is taller & weighs more than me. Although he is a big teddy bear after all!

Awww my little Dachshunds are like that...teeny but hey you're as big as you think you are!

SophieeBabessxo
01-05-2011, 03:45 PM
In that case, I'm tiny! :)

TinyBrooke
01-06-2011, 12:00 AM
I HATE it when people say, "hey, you're short!". I want to just be like "WHAT?!? No one ever told me! THANKS!"
And then punch them in the face. Or the gut. Whichever is closest.
Don't worry. I restrain myself. Most of the time :wink

SophieeBabessxo
01-06-2011, 12:30 PM
Haha :L
I like being small :) Apart from when people think they can pick me up, and obviously they're not gentle so they hurt me :(

xxBrittany
06-13-2011, 10:54 PM
Sophie, I know what you mean about people thinking they are gentle but are not.. that happens to me alllll the time. I guess they look at EDS as being sort of a Elasti-Girl syndrome where everything pops out and what nots, but it doesn't hurt... But it does!

SophieeBabessxo

My boyfriend used to find everything cool, thankfully he now realized it's not :L

TinyBrooke

I always tell people, "EDS is really cool in theory. Except in real life, it sucks."

SophieeBabessxo

I like that saying! :)
