Gwen- thanks for posting this.
ALSO,
everyone if you do click on the the spammed post's link, it may contribute to giving you a virus on your computer so like Gwen said, as soon as you see a suspicious post report it immediately or if you are not quite sure whether it is or not, you may always message me with a question or any of the moderators for that matter.

If in doubt, DO NOT CLICK IT.
Some of the bad programs and viruses that can come on your computer can't be found by an anti-virus program. If you think it's legit ASK the person what the link is, where it's from, and why it's posted especially if it's a Tiny URL.

I can't stress this rule enough! My laptop has crashed because of viruses sneaking through and that can not be caught by my anti virus program....there are mean people out there who enjoy creating viruses that can not be detected until your computer crashes. So please be careful.
If you find a post to be odd in any way...please do not reply...please report the post or member of the post to a moderator or administrator and one of us will check into it and decide if the member is legit or a spammer.

My laptop got over 100 viruses on it due to dodgey links, i had to get a new one because it was really badly infected.
Please do not click them if they don't look official or if you have the slightest doubt

Couldn't have said it better myself! I'm sorry you had to get an entire new laptop...that's terrible! I wish people weren't so mean like that and enjoyed creating these deadly viruses to computers:temp:

Another thing I would like to add although I feel as if my fellow members have done a good job as it is...
- If you are not computer savvy, please be very careful. EDSkids do not have any popups that we issue out onto our system, and if you get a popup please don't click it, it's likely a virus.. Sometimes when I log onto here.. I get a message saying.. *WARNING* A VIRUS IS INFECTING YOUR COMPUTER! CLICK HERE TO SCAN NOW! .. But really, it's a lie, and when you click for their supposed program to scan your computer it puts bugs and viruses into your computer.
The IT guys, the moderators and myself cannot stress enough on how careful you need to be even on a website like ours in which we try to protect at all times. We are sorry if you experience any problems within our website but like we have said, if you find something suspicious please DO NOT hesitate to send it to one of us.. Check out the links in an above message that Gwen posted onto who to send fishy links too!

What are the best virus protection and firewall software that are out there?
I have McAfee that came with my laptop and I also installed Microsoft Security Essentials. I have my firewall turned on, but as far as I know, I don't have anything special installed to protect unless McAfee or the Microsoft Security Essentials program has a firewall protection thing included.

well, AVG (paid version) worked well for me over the years, l did install it before the free version got a little bloated, now l use BitDefender Internet Security.
so far l like it, tho l must admit l only considered using it as Ai recommended, however l would stay away from Norton based programs, its not that they dont work its that as a program its become so bloated that it tends to slow down a computer more than it protects it, especially on slower systems.

Well, everyone... please just be cautious as to what you are opening and if you have a virus software please check your computer once in a while.
Thanks!
